Windows 7 - locale and language change

    Hello all

I live in Denmark and am currently in the process of buying a new laptop. I found one I wanted and ordered it.

I've now gotten an email stating that the OS is German and with German localization.

The OS is Windows 7 Home Premium and my question is whether it's possible to change these things to Danish.

I tried looking at microsoft.com, and that got me confused. I found a page stating that only the Ultimate and Enterprise versions had language support [ Download languages for Windows - Microsoft Windows ]

Then I found a page giving instructions on how to change the locale of windows 7, which is supposed to work on any versions [ Change the system locale ]

It would be very nice if it's possible to change to locale and language to Danish - or English (I don't care which one) - as that would allow me to buy a superior laptop compared to another I was looking at.

    That looks exceedingly helpful :)
    Thanks.

A follow up question: With regards to the language packs - what do they change that differs from what following that guide will change. More specifically, will the OS still be displayed in German or will that change with the language and locale changes (error-messages, normal windows features like control panel and what not)?

What language you wish to choose will be the one displayed.

Heres a tutorial on how to Install/Uninstall Language Pack:

It says that it's only available to Ultimate or Enterprise windows.
I take it, that as it's Windows 7 Home Premium, I wont be able to install language packs, and the language of system messages and all that, will be stuck on German?

I'm reading the same page as of this moment. Also, I read some comment about Vistalizator, seem to work with them very well. :)

    Well it seems legit enough.
I guess I can risk it. If it doesn't work I guess I can content myself with those LIPs.

Thanks a lot for the help! I'll see if I can't rep you again :)

You're welcome. Create system restore point before you use that Vistalizator in case something went wrong. :)
