    Error OX80004005

I am currently using a piece of software that has file ext of .PES
This is software for my sewing machine.

I have encountered error OX80004005 - this appears to have corrupted the use of my
software - not entirely as I can use a work around.

However when I try to download designs all the files come up as read only and the software requests that I call the download something else before I can use it.

Can anyone help with a fix please?

    Many thanks

Hello Colleen and welcome to Seven Forums. Disclaimer: I'm not an expert in sewing or embroidery. Heck, I'm not an expert at anything. But it definitely sounds like the software used to open/read the .pes files has become corrupt. So I have to ask, did your sewing machine come with an installation disk or setup disk that might be able to repair or reinstall the corrupted software?

From what I could find, the .pes file type is primarily associated with 'Brother/Babylock/Bernina Home Embroidery Format' by Buzz Tools Plus. I don't know if that means the software is proprietary. I also found this forum thread that may help.

How do you open PES file?

One of the free utilities recommended in this thread is Wilcom Truesizer. It's supposed to be a universal file conversion tool and is able to read and convert many popular industrial and home expanded/condensed file formats including .pes files.

Hope some of this helps. If it doesn't, my apologies for taking up your time.

    Dear Marsmimar,

I will try your suggestions I open the pes files in the software (or normally) from Brother. It is a dedicated peice ofsoftware to the machine - however I can convert to other sewing machine options if required - so not sure if that makes it proprietary. Certainly from the websites it comes in all formats of every manufacturer.
Thanks for helping. I will let you know what works.

    Colleen.

Welcome to Seven Forums Colleen. Do you have a System Restore point from when the software worked correctly?

HI, yes I do, but not sure what that will do to the stuff I have download since then. I guess if all else fails - this is my only option.

If you choose the restore point, before you have to commit, you will be able to click to see what would be affected. A Guy
