    i just recently purchessed win7 64 bit as an upgrade ... from xp 32 bit ..

    why wont their version not allow 64bit ... when MS say i can go from 32 bit XP to win7 64 Bit

    See here: Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows 7

    Click on Step 4 then go to the bottom and click on To install a 64-bit version of Windows 7 on a computer running a 32-bit version of Windows XP

    You can follow all the steps if you also want to preserve data and existing settings where possible.

    You can't upgrade from XP to 7 at all. It has to be a clean install of Win 7.
