Your keyboard has Sticky keys. Change keyboards.

There is nothing wrong with your keyboard. It is normal behaviour for keys to repeat when they are held down. You can change this behaviour by moving the sliders on the Speed tab of Keyboard Properties.

How do you know there is nothing wrong with his keyboard? With the repeating he is expressing it is not caused by holding a key down. Even at the fastest setting there is a slight delay between the first character typed and the Repeat of them. And if it is repeating for 20+ characters he would have to hold the key down for some time.

First, it seems like it happens to random characters, It has happened to letters as well as the hyphen. I just got thru using compressed air to clean the keyboard and so far it seems to be working OK. I'll keep trying to type and see if it reoccurs. This typing is the most I have been able to do without the multiple characters. I've got my fingers crossed and will let you know if it starts up again

Is this on the notebook or desktop computer? With either turn the system off and turn it upside down, keyboard upside down for desktop Whole system upside down for notebook, and blow it out again.

I need a new can of spray but will do as you suggested. For now, it is working good. Thanks so very much.
