Win7 freezes when deleting a file
Hi everyone, I have an ASUS laptop that I bought brand new about a year ago. I haven't had any trouble with it until a couple of weeks ago. While I was on vacation last month I brought this laptop along and just occasionally checked my email with it. I noticed about a week and a half ago that it would start freezing any time a file is deleted.
It freezes up for about 30 seconds. The cursor can be moved around on the screen, but nothing can be clicked on. If I do click on stuff while it is frozen, it will suddenly try to catch up with all of the clicking that I made once unfrozen (if that makes any sense).
This only happens when deleting files. At the suggestion of one person I tried an alternate file manager, Xplorer2, but had the same results. Aside from Xplorer2, I have not made any system changes.
However, Windows downloaded and installed about 30 updates during the two weeks I was on vacation. Most of them applied to Office 2007. I am currently working on uninstalling a few at a time and then restarting my system to see if that fixes the problem. I've done about 15-20 updates with no luck so far.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!
