My system is Windows 7 64 bit professional
How can I tell how much memory I have installed on my computer, I know I can click on the start orb then right click on computer then click on property it then shows me the memory installed.
My problem is I was wanting to install extra memory so I run a scan from crucial and that says a different amount to what my computer says.
So is there a way I can tell for certain

Press the Windows logo keyand the Pause Break key at the same time, system properties will show you your installed and usable memory. Your computer will be the correct one but it may have some RAM hardware reserved.

I have followed your tip and i can see the memory installed in my computer as Installed moemory (Ram)
But i can see the total memory but not the suable memory

If you press ALT+PRNTSCRN it will capture only the active window and not the entire desktop if you use the Paint method.

Seems like 12GB to me. Which should be more than you'll ever need. Win7 only needs 4GB, which is what I have.

I feel I should explain a little, I originally had 6GB of memory in my computer but a couple of programs used all the memory in my system whilst running one of them was Acronis True Image 2012 and another was a video editing program
The reason I say all the memory was used is because I have the CPU and Memory gadget on my desktop.
I ran Memtest 86 and that said the memory was all good but I still used all of it, so I decided to put another 2 GB in so I ran the online scanner from Crucial and it correctly identified my memory IE: 6 GB in 3 slots with 3 slots empty on a Asus P6T SE motherboard.
As Crucial gave me a selection of memory chips that would work with my Motherboard I rang them and said I wanted the new memory to be compatible with the memory already in my system and then said I might be better as my motherboard supported triple gate (I think that’s what he said) I would be better fitting a matched set of another 3 sticks of 2Gb each.
So when this memory came and I fitted it and ran the crucial scanner again it said I had only got 8Gb in two slots and my computer said I had 10GB in 6 Slots.
I removed all the memory and started again and now my computer says there is 12GB so I was a little concerned that the new memory was not working to good with my old memory.
So my choice is say with the 12GB or go back to my original 6GB, by the way Acronis True Image does not now use all the memory just about 33% I think it was
