Can't log back into my user account after windows update yesterday

Hey Guys

I am having an issue . Where after I ran Windows Update and restarted the computer(desktop) it logged me into a temporary user account. I followed the directions on the tutorial where you do some changes in the registry for the .bak in the profilelist . I restarted the computer and tried to log in to my account I activated administrator account and I get this error message " The group policy client service failed the log on. access is denied " . The PC is not on a domain its in a work group. I tried to do a Windows Restore but for some reason it said there weren't any created. I thought Windows updates creates them before the updates get installed. I tried with a recovery disc and the windows installation disc same result no restores created.
