    Where can I download Msdt.exe

Installed Windows 7 and it says I'm missing "msdt.exe" Anyone know where I can download it? Do I need to download it as Administrator? Thanks.

You should not be missing any files if you are using a legitimate version of Windows. I googled msdt.exe and it seems more of a virus than anything else.

Maybe you could provide us with some more info. Like when exactly do you get that error?

msdt.exe is Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool and comes as part of windows 7.

Try sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt and see if that replaces the file.

I find the file in my Windows/system32 folder and the properties indicate that it is an .exe program that is the "Diagnostics Troubleshooting Wizard" If it is not on your system and you need it for something I suspect you are going to have to do a repair of your install of Windows 7.

If you are starting to get corrupted files then you should perform a checkdisk for bad sectors.

Good advice was given on how to replace the file. Don't download msdt.exe from some random place on the net, because it's probably a virus.

Repair needed for MSDT.exe and Windows Update

I'm new here. This issue is still occurring. I have a missing MSDT.exe and non-operations Windows Update for two kB's (some did install, but these says files are missing. This began occuring after running registry cleaning and keys were deleted and malware/virus scans deleted files.

I've tried to access some Microsoft kb articles without success (missing files), tried to run WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab

Windows Repair (dialog box says Windows File Protection makes no progress on the progress bar)

Thanks for any educated direction you may have.
