How to search my entire computer?

I had a explorer window open, not sure which location but I closed in in a hurry and right before I noticed a folder I have been looking for. When I use the search function, it does not pull everything. I have readjusted the settings in there as advised before, but it still doesn't search everywhere. For example, I have things on my desktop, and if I type in the name, it doesn't appear.

So, how do I do a complete file name search for everything on my computer?

Download and try "Everything" from voidtools.com

Free. Lightning quick. Easily configured. You can tell it what drives to include in a search.

It searches ONLY names, not contents.

Agent Ransack is another good search tool.
