Using a Windows 7 Premium Install disc on another PC.

I am thinking of upgrading from Windows 7 Premium, to Windows 8 Pro. Can I use the Windows 7 Premium install disc, on another PC when I upgrade to to Windows 8 Pro ?

    Thanks for any help. derricksmythe68

If its a Retail version yes. Retail versions can be moved to another PC.
If its OEM technically no, if you follow the EULA its not transferable.

Hi Alphanumeric, Thanks for speedy reply. It is a retail copy of Windows 7 Premium, and I will be upgrading from Vista on the other PC. How does activation work in a case like this ?

    Thanks. derricksmythe68

If you boot the Win7 DVD and there is no other OS on the HD for it to see, then it will reject the Upgrade version key up front during install. Skip it to Clean Install Windows 7

After install do the quick registry workaround in Option 3 in Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version
to activate Upgrade version key on new or wiped HD.

If it won't activate online just use the activate by phone option and tell them you moved it to a new PC and it will only be used on that PC.
