Installed Memory 6GB but 2GB usable.

    Installed Memory 6GB but 2GB usable.


    My computer's memory was 2GB and i added 4GB more, but only 2GB is usable. I have tried many time take the Ram out and put it back but i still have the same problem. Can anyone help me?

    The memory limit on 32bit operating systems is 4gb, so you would ov been better off with just another 2gb dim. Try removing the 2gb dim and boot with only the 4gb

    As bradscoolio pointed out....it's a limitation of the 32 bit OS. If you want to upgrade the amount of RAM of your system you'll need to move up to a 64 bit OS. You'll need to check your system to see if it's hardware/software ready for 64 bit OS. These links should help explain the differences.

    Enable PAE


    You can enable PAE to address up to 64gb of ram.
    Go to command prompt, type in BCDEdit /set PAE forceenable
    That's all.

    Yeah, I noticed that my computer was still fast while i was installing 3 big programs in the same time. Physic memory was used only 80%.

    Yup its faster. I never used a 64bit before, but when I do, I don't want to go back :P
