Problem: Autoplay System Reserved (G:) error appearing.

Just today on starting my Win 7 64 Pro that a small screen flashed quickly on and off and kept appearing, the warning was "Autoplay System Reserved (G: )everything was fine at shutdown the night before. G: drive is a flash drive and only connected when needed.

I checked error logs and could only find two errors around the startup time, TfFsMon and TfFvsMon whether these are relevant or not I have no idea!

I rebooted with the same problem. I then unticked 'Use Autoplay for all media devices' in Control Panel~Autoplay. Rebooted and all seems fine again.

I then tried a System Restore of a few days ago and this failed possibly due to my AV running, I turned the AV off until a 'Restart' and again tried a System Restore, same failure with unspecified error (0x80070005).

If I turn on Autoplay the problem re-appears, my PC slows and generally is not happy, turn off Autoplay and its fine.

Any suggestions as to what the problem is and how to fix it?

I am having this same issue! It only started recently (within the past month).

I first noticed it when I came back to my computer after having been away for a day or two and there were literally HUNDREDS of pop up windows open for the Autoplay option. They had a message about "System Drive F" trying to open itself.

I closed them all, but for the next hour or so they continued to flicker on and off my screen as the system continued to try and autoplay something (I unplugged all peripherals, which didn't help at all)

Most recently I started noticing the Autoplay windows/error directly after I plugged my iPod into my system. I had ejected the device to leave, and noticed the windows start to pop up again. This time they had the same message as yours: "System Reserved G:" with an option to open the folder and view files.

I have no clue why my system is doing this but was happy to see someone else having the exact same problem.

Have you checked for malware or a virus? I suggest doing both.

Thanks for the suggestion Sir George. Bitdefender TS 2012 reports all ok.
Found the cause of the problem, it is caused by TomTom Sat Nav. I had a problem with a new map and called TT to sort it out using the PC USB and HOME program, after this the problem (g: ) arrived. The SD card is G: and the internal memory L: with the card in the USB the problem goes away. I was getting both G: and L: errors.
TT reckon that deleting all the files on the TT unit and reinstalling will correct the problem, I will use their instructions later and see if they work, or not, and report back afterwards.

Well that didn't work.

There is still something associated with the TomTom that is causing the problem, I just wish I could fathom it out

I checked Computer Management-Disk Management, on the 'System Reserved' partition there was a regular flashing (G: ) .

Windows Explorer shows my HD (F: ) and HD (H: ) then 'System Reserved (G: )' jumps in between the F and H then disappears again!

Glad I found this today. I started having the trouble with the system partition popups.

After finding this I just closed the TomTom app in the task bar and they stopped.

Going to investigate a more permanent solution later.

That's interesting (Apologies to Steve Davis) I have now removed the TT Home application from my Task Bar (Show hidden icons in Windows 7 64bit)and put a shortcut on my desktop. I have re-enabled Auto Play and touch wood and so far all seems fine .

Had you updated your Tom Tom application just before the problem appeared Madmaxed? If you had this could be the cause as my problems started on the next reboot.

No I hadn't updated my TomTom. I did let the application update last night after finding that the TomTom application was causing the problem. After installing the update to the software, and rebooting the problem persisted.

My solution is to simply remove the TomTom application for now. I only used to to get the latest maps on my unit. Haven't been using it for anything else so I'm not missing anything.

TomTom! I also had the TomTom application running in my taskbar. I hadn't used my GPS in a while but did plug it in and update the TomTom app not long before these weird windows started.

I'll look into having it not run constantly in the background, hopefully it will help my issue as well.
