Security tab: Edit, Advanced, OK, and Cancel buttons don't work

Well, I clicked OK but got the error message in attachment number 2 that access was denied to change permissions.

Trying a Windows 7 File Permission Reset batch program, but it looks like it's locked out of every folder it scans, or it can't find the folder. Even Word 2010 Starter won't open.

Successfully processed 540156 files, failed processing 342,219.
In other words: Access denied 540K; couldn't find file or folder 342K

I can't believe I can still type on this.

Using the Take Ownership program on major folders so I can copy stuff to flash drive.

HP demands a 32 GB flash drive to make recovery files. I went to two Wal-Marts last night and they were both sold out of those $20 thingys. I tried to burn DVD+R DL, which requires 3 discs, but it crapped out after spending 50 minutes burning the first disc. Either my drive is broken or Win 7 doesn't know how to finalize discs.

Ok I may be off base here but haven't you fooled with the permission enough to come to the simple fact that you need to WIPE the drive in your system and Re-Install Windows 7 fresh and clean and then stop fooling with the predefined system permissions for the ROOT of the System partition, C:\, and the System folders on the System Partition??????

If you need to get Data off that drive remove from that system and connect it to another by a SATA to USB adapter and take Complete ownership of the drive and copy your data off it. The put it back in the original system then Wipe the drive CLEAN & Re-Install the OS.

As your Sig says "If it's Too Broke, It's Beyond Fixing. Try a little Practicing of what your are preaching.
