Not able to create data partition

    Please help.
Ive bought A lenovo g580(?) with 7 pre installed. There is four partitions preinstalled on the hdd. I've understod that You can not delete any of these, in order to keep the recovery system working.
Four partitions is the Max number of such.

Is it possible to Get an extra data partition?
If not, should i store my user data on c? What if win7 crashes, then i Will loose everything on c.

On my old pc, i had A dedicated d-partition for data. This is not possible on my new pc. Or is it?

Yes, it is possible to add a data partition.

BUT, you cannot exceed 4 primary partitions. I assume you already have 4 primary partitions.

The best choice is probably to convert your current C partition to logical. You could then shrink C and make a data partition from the space generated by shrinking.

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT say yes to any choice involving dynamic partitions. If you attempt to make a data partition right now, without first converting to logical, you will likely be asked to accept dynamic partitions. SAY NO. Better yet, don't try to make more partitions right now.

Best thing you can do right now:

Post a screen shot of Windows Disk Management so we can see your current partition structure.
