Messed up user rights permissions

hi guys,

I've messed up my family pc and urgently need your help. I was using the rights/permissions security tab to deny access to my kids account to some common windows folder. I made the Administrator account the owner and gave it full control. But something odd has happened....

Now Microsoft Management Control will not let me save any options for kids account.

Each time i try to change any option in MMC, I now get a dialog box with the error:-

Something either is right-protected or maybe i need to choose a different owner? Any ideas guys?

You should NEVER fool with the Ownership of System folders. You have Farked your system. Time to Reinstall.

edwar, I admit I've messed it, but if you can't help, then please keep your comments to yourself...it seems you've been doing this in quite a few of your posts to other people too...if you can't help, then please don't post.

And I'm sure it's possible to fix the problem without having to reinstall windows. Just need the right advice.

Sorry you feel that way. But I will post when and where I like with the information I feel is correct.

Yes you have fully screwed up the system. The only way to recover is to Wipe and Reinstall. That is MHO. Sorry you don't think so but that is your problem, as is the mess you made with fooling with System Permissions.

logicearth - thanks for your response. Firstly let me clearly say that i haven't said anything to anyone, other than edwar, because it felt like he was having a go. Your answer for example was constructive and clearly explained where i have gone wrong.

Anyway, for what it's worth i'm not here to argue and hope i can apologise to edwar and yourself if i caused any discontent and hope we can put this behind us and move on...deal?

Brand new here and was reading this older thread. seven, I don't get why you are apologizing, not at all. You said nothing out of line in MHO!
