I'm using a trial of Keytext to automate the process...
    here's the macro i'm using:
    Code:
    {Run "D:\User\Downloads\Windows8-UpgradeAssistant.exe"}{Pause1}			{Return}{Pause6}{Return}{Pause9}{Return}	{Return}{Return}{Pause 6}				First	last	number	email	email	street		town	(first letter of province/state)	postal/zipcode{Return}{Pause3}			{Down}{Down}{Down}{Return}
you may have to tweak the pauses, and you have to fill in your information. i also checked the "don't show this alert when openin this application" and temporairily dropped down the security a notch so it doesn't do the dimmed screen thing.

Boy, I see there's a lot of hate for 8. Perhaps they should have called it Windows H8
H8 very good. I like that. I also notice your post count is right on 6000. Play the lottery.
Thanks I didn't even notice. As you see, I don't keep up with post or rep count.

Glad to hear it. I may order mine later this week after all the server issues settle down.

I still didn't get my money back for when i paid for my desktop
But so far it's looking like a simple process: in two days I can elevate my dispute in paypal and i should get it back quickly after that.

by then I'll see how Windows 8 is, and if it seems like it will be useable with my logitech k400.

Why wouldn't it? I was under the impression Logitech had drivers for Windows 8. I thought I saw them when I got the updated drivers a couple of week ago for my Logitech Wireless keyboard and Mouse. Of course I'm still on Win 7 but I swear I saw Win 8 drivers as well.

Unless Microsoft confuses the laptop purchase with the failed desktop purchase.

YOU: I never got my purchase.
MS: Sure you did. We sent you the Product Key and you activated Windows 8.
YOU: No, you don't understand. I ordered for my desktop first. PayPal took my money. You guys say you never got that order. So I placed a second order for my laptop. That's the Product Key you sent.
MS: So you admit you got your Product Key?
YOU: Yes, but for my laptop. Not for my desktop.
MS: We show no order for a desktop. Are you trying to scam us? Please hold while we escalate this to our fraud department.

fortunately I still have the service tickets. But at this point it should be automatic.
And the laptop was the discounted to $15 while the desktop key was for $42. Also:

Maybe I got lucky then... I ordered my £15 upgrade copy on launch day through the Upgrade Assistant and it all went through fine, well except that it wouldn't let me order it from the Evaluation copy of 8, I had to reinstall 7.

By the way... not that I am condoning it, but the £15 upgrade offer if you buy a new PC? They don't actually check whether you did buy a new PC... seems a bit strange. (I did... but it never asked me to prove it)
