Alright, this is that Win7 64 bit explorer problem cropping up again

And I've searched all over the web for 2+ hours. What happens is, is that when I open My computer, it opens a window. When I click on Local Disk C to open it, it opens another window, (not another process). I've checked folder options, Set it to open many windows, applied, then set it back to open only one, applied, and it didn't fix it. I was hoping you guys could figure it out. Earlier today, I went in with the win7 setup disc, and ERASED Internet explorer from Program Files 64 and 32 bit folders using command prompt, but I highly doubt that has anything to do with it. I also searched internet explorer in C: drive and perma-deleted everything I could, but some needed SYSTEM level access so I just clicked cancel.

Bump. Anyway, better description for you guys. When I double-click a folder, it opens a new window, instead of opening in same window. I want it to open in the same window, rather than new windows all the time, although, if I right click > open, it opens under same window.

What do Explorer window settings found in Control Panel>Folder Options have to do with Internet Explorer?

What you describe is about the most ridiculous solution that I have ever seen posted by someone asking for help here.

To remove Internet Explorer you only need to hide it (which is how it's uninstalled) in Control Panel>Programs and Features>Turn On or Off Features.

Now if your Win7 will still boot immediately try to System Restore before you used the meat axe to see if it will restore. Then to be sure run SFC -SCANNOW Command to check System file integrity.

Then change the explorer windows settings correctly.

What I believe happened, is an AppData folder got erased somehow, completely. I checked folder options, and it's not set to open new windows. And of course it still boots. It's just annoying minor problem
