Windows 7 Ultimate Sometimes Chinese Characters Show Up As Squares hi, I have been having this problem for more than a year, my windows 7 ultimate is able to recognise and display chinese characters in the past, but very often, sometimes the chinese characters doesn't display properly, and after i restart the operating system, it shows up fine. is there any problem with my OS? majority of the time it shows the chinese characters properly, but often it messes up the chinese characters and displays squares. | My System Specs |

I have a similar problem with Japanese characters, but it is only in applications (e.g. Winamp, FreeCommander).
Have you tried adjusting the options in "Control Panel > Region and Language" section? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number n/a OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (64 bit), Windows XP SP3, Linux Mint 14 MATE (64 bit) CPU AMD Phenom II x6 1055T, 2.8 GHz Motherboard ASRock 880GMH-LE/USB3 Memory 8GB DDR3 1333 G-Skill Ares F3-1333C9D-8GAO (4GB x 2) Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD6450 Sound Card Realtek? because ultimate is supposed to display chinese characters without installing the language packs, and i'm not a chinese program user, so setting my language to chinese is a bit too much, it's just some of my songs have chinese titles. it happens randomly only, and after i restart my computer or go to the regional language settings, change to chinese, restart and change back to english, the problems goes away... for a while, before randomly appearing again. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate x64 CPU QuadCore AMD Phenom II X4 Black Edition 955, 3200 MHz Motherboard DFI LANParty DK 790FXB-M2RS(H) Memory Kingston Ram Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD 4870 Monitor(s) Displays Philips 234EL Screen Resolution 1920 x 1080 Keyboard Logitech Mouse Logitech PSU Antec True Power New 750W Case NZXT Guardian 921RB Cooling Coolermaster Hard Drives Western Digital Caviar Blue

I have Windows 7 Ultimate and "Windows Update" is offering me Chinese & Japanese Language Packs (32 other languages also).
I assume the Language Packs relabel all of the buttons, windows, etc. in the OS. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number n/a OS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (64 bit), Windows XP SP3, Linux Mint 14 MATE (64 bit) CPU AMD Phenom II x6 1055T, 2.8 GHz Motherboard ASRock 880GMH-LE/USB3 Memory 8GB DDR3 1333 G-Skill Ares F3-1333C9D-8GAO (4GB x 2) Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD6450 Sound Card Realtek?
