    Control Z (undo) not working

    Hi,

Sorry if this is a repeat, but I searched and didn't come up with anything directly related to this question.

Control Z (undo) isn't working in Office or anywhere else (notepad, email, anything). I'm not sure how I managed to turn it off, but it would be really appreciated if someone could help turn it back on. I use ctrl z, x, c, and v for undo, cut, copy, and paste all the time. Everything but ctrl z still works. Now that it isn't working, I've realized how much it helps my productivity.

    Thanks!

Hello ogallupe and welcome to Seven Forums.

I've heard that people who use Skype sometimes use Ctrl+Z to mute the microphone. Doing so makes Ctrl+Z (the undo command) not work in other programs. If you have a system restore point that goes back to before this problem started you may be able to roll back your computer to a good working state.

    System Restore

Another possibility is to check for damaged or corrupt system files. Run a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Please post back if anything helped or not.

Thanks! Your Skype advice got me thinking and I realized that after recently switching back to Winamp after many years of using other media software, I set Ctrl+Z as a hotkey. After changing that to something different in Winamp, problem solved! So, thanks for your help!

My search about this problem lead to this thread. The problem was Skype and I was able to easily change its hot key setting. That solved the problem immediately! Thank you.
