    prevent non-interactive account from changing autoplay settings?


    i would like my autoplay settings to be un-change-able to anyone but myself. This means if an app is installed and tries to take control of an autoplay event, it gets an error code and the setting remains unchanged. If, however, I use the control panel to change a setting then it is allowed and the change goes through.

    Is there a permission that can be added or removed from a registry key that controls autoplay settings for my user?

    Errr...that wouldn't work. The control panel is just another application executing with your level or privileges. Anything you can do an application can do. Blocking an application would result in you being blocked as well.

    hmm yes that makes sense, darn.

    Anyone know of a watch-app or log file I can read that show the applications that are modifying the registry settings specific to autoplay?

I see in the AutoPlay settings that external devices such as flash drives and hard drives are not specifically mentioned. Does that mean that the settings in the dialog do not apply to them? I've unchecked "use autoplay for all devices" at the top, I am wondering if that will disable autoplay on...
