Macrium Reflect Free for system images or cloning. For registry, regedit, File, Export as, save the file on
something removable.

But doesn't Windows modify the registry as time goes? Are there certain parts that you shouldn't restore?

Google
Since you're prone to accidents, I would back up the entire registry before mucking around in it.
