Windows 7 - Explorer crashing when deleting files

Using 7600 RTM x64 I keep getting crashes when deleting a file it just comes up'windows explorer has stopped working'. I thought it was to do with the right-click problems a lot of people have been having but it happens even when i press the 'del' key on the keyboard to delete a file! Any solutions to this?

go into event viewer (type event viewer in search) go to windows logs, application tab and look for errors (red "X" in left column) that list IE. tell us what the evend id, and source codes are

OK just happened again now heres what it said:

1002 Winlogon

The shell stopped unexpectedly and explorer.exe was restarted

(Some of these responses ought to be bound to the useless "media" keyboard keys )

If you go through the following to obtain a memory dump generated during the crash, someone may be able to tell you why Explorer is behaving that way:

1) Download and install either the 32-bit or the 64-bit "Debugging Tools" package, depending on your OS type: Debugging Tools for Windows - Overview

2) Open a CMD prompt and CD to the folder where you installed the debugging tools.

3) Run this command:

cscript adplus.vbs -crash -nodumponfirst -minionsecond -quiet -pn explorer.exe

4) Reproduce the Explorer crash.

5) Find the new folder in that same location with a DMP (memory dump) file. Zip up that entire folder and upload it here.

MAYBE WHY YOUR HAVING PROBLEMS.

I very much doubt its my mobo this is the second time i have installed the same version of Windows7 using this board and there were no problems first time. I only re-installed because i messed something up and it was easier to format than to fix it!

Well, sounds like it might be easier to format & reinstall again then.

what that usually means is some of the DRIVERS for you system will not work correctly. And depends on your version of Win 7.
Drivers are 95% of all problems. & your using the x64 version which has more problems and x86.

Just info passing along.. that is Official. you be the best judge if it should work or not.
Your Manufacture and MS says Might WORK but will have problems...

Do you also have a "crashing Explorer" issue? If so, my suggestion would be to start your own thread so that you can receive the help you want in the way you want it.

Regarding the steps in my post, I'm guessing that it's the "adplus" command line which is disagreeing with you? ADplus is a Microsoft script which is used for "Application (memory) Dumping" for the purposes of analysing crashes and hangs.

The mods would have taken offence if they thought it was "hacking".

The alternative is to troubleshoot crashes by trial-and-error, and that can be a massively painful and frustrating experience, as most of us are keenly aware
