Using System File Checker with ASUS Image disks?

Hello,

I ran SFC.exe /scannow and it needs windows media. Unfortunately, I just have the disks that the ASUS backup software provided when I first bought the laptop. Is there a way to use these disks? Should i extract the cab files and put them on another disk and try these?

Thanks,

I think it would be easier to make your own media. Download the official Microsoft .iso file for your version of Windows 7. Then burn that .iso to a blank DVD.

Thanks for that. I downloaded it and got an error with /scannnow. It looks like I'll be making another post!

While you're at it consider getting the vastly superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

At a minimum I'd Clean Up Factory Bloatware
