3rd party updates guide for Windows 8.

I am looking to install all the updates/programs needed for the Windows environment to be a well-oiled machine.
I am looking to make this a thread that would be helpful to others as well.
    Your contribution is appreciated.

I will smooth this guide out with your help. Adding links to download locations, ect.

    My system:
    Windows 8 Pro 64-bit
    AMD X3 440 Rana
    8GB DDR3 RAM
    Nvidia 9800 GT

    So far I have:
    - All the latest drivers via Windows Driver Update and Driver Genius. (And manual download for NVIDIA driver.)
    - Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome with Ad Block Extension.
    - Start8 (Start Menu) by Stardock
    - Pokki (Start Menu) Can be ran side by side.
    - CCleaner
    - AVG Free Anti-Virus
    - Microsoft Silverlight
    - K-Lite Codec Pack 64-bit
    - Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 x64 Redistributable
(Which versions are there? Should I install x86 version on a 64-bit system too?)
    - WinRAR (64-bit)
    - Adobe Flash Player
    - Java

Please help with questions I have along the list. I want to make it clear for everyone, including myself so can get this guide fully functional.

    Thanks

Perhaps this topic would be more at home here:

I would definitely delete AVG and install MSE in it's place. Rather than try to make Win 8 look like Win 7 with the introduction of 3rd party software most of us will not be using Win 8 on a PC. It might be OK for the "Toys" but personally I will wait for Win 9.

There are more people here. Ill post it there once I get help here. This applies to windows 8 too.
And I am actually using Windows 8 on my desktop. I was tired of 7. Bit sluggish imo.

No this is a Windows 7 general discussion section not Windows 8.

    Thread closed.
