Here's one thing to check:

In device manager, network adapters, for each adapter, check properties, power management tab and make sure everything there is unchecked.

If that doesn't fix it, you could try making sure USB selective suspend is turned off by going into power options, change power options, advanced options/settings/USB, disable selective suspend.

Also try disabling hybrid sleep.

Go to Device Manager, and open the properties for "Network Adapters". In the Power Management tab, make sure that the box that says "Allow this device to wake the computer" is unchecked.

Edit: @harpua Sorry, I was posting at the same time and didn't see your post till I hit submit

What exactly fixed it Gilly? Was it the advice offered here, or was it something else? I'm just asking so that others can learn from your experience.

TIA, and most of all, glad your problem is solved.

I have this recurring problem with all versions of Windows 7. I am a small system builder, and have not been able to find an answer to this question. Why is it taking so long for the PC to wake up? I have tweaked the settings to "NEVER" turn off the hard drive, never go into hibernation, sleep...
