    Desktop keeps changing

Ohai. I just this copy of Windows 7 on my brand new laptop. Unfortunately, after only a day, its already encountering problems.

The first problem is that after a couple restarts, all my desktop gadgets disappeared. A reboot did solve this, but I'd rather fix the problem properly instead of hiding it and hoping it doesn't come back.
The second problem is that the desktop icons keep moving, and so do the gadgets again. Most of the icons revert to the standard position of top left corner, and file down towards the bottom until they loop over again. A few icons go rogue and just move to random spots on the desktop. The gadgets then all clump on top of each other in the top right side, except for one (changes) which sits next to them.

It seems as whenever Winamp minimizes and resizes that this happens. There might be another cause but I'm not entirely sure of it yet.

Any ideas on either of them?

Right click on an empty spot on your desktop and have a look under View for automatically align icons, and align to grid. If they are checked, uncheck them and see if that helps.

It didn't help... and I don't see how it could have. I'm good with computers so technical language is alright for anyone else wanting to help.

It seems WinAmp is messing with your screen resolution. What's happening seems to be what happens when using older full screen apps that don't run at the same resolution of your screen then do not put it back to the resolution it was at properly.

I don't use WinAmp so I am not sure if there is a setting for this, you may want to talk a look at what is available in the settings for the program.

Thanks for the advice. Didn't think of that. It's odd, because I used Winamp on another Windows 7 computer (smaller res) with no problems, and XP on this same resolution. I don't think its too old... I'm using the latest version.

I've asked around on the winamp forums, but I'll have a look at the available settings.

Well, reinstalling winamp for the 4th time seem to work... so it must have been winamp. But yeah, thanks for all the help. I'm still puzzled about the gadgets disappearing thing, but that hasn't happened since the reboot.
