    Idle computer mysterious crashes

my mini computer is a funny one, i can be sitting working on it for hours on end without any hick ups but always whenever i leave it for a while to go do something else, when i come back it has crashed, automatically rebooted so no bluescreen. but it only crashes like this if i leave it idle, turned on.

What processes does windows start when the computer is not engaged by a user? because it has to be something like that which makes it fault and reboot right?

Do you have error reporting enabled? If so you can check their for the reason for shut down. and post a screen shot of the report. Also even though you built your own system we still need you to fll out your system spec fully in user cp.Thanks

windows error reporting service was set to manual but was not started, event log was running tho.

I am using a HTC SHIFT so the hardware is HTC original configuration so not custom built.

Action center has suggested i upgrade the BIOS since it's version does not match the spec for the cpu and another report action center has given me is that momentarely the operating system lost connection with the harddrive.

i activated error reporting service to so i maybe be able to provide more information upon next crash.

Is the monitor set to turn off automatically? try turning that feature off a see what happens....a few of us have had freezing problems...never a blue screen though.

Are you using suspend/hibernate/sleep?? I have seen issues listed on these forums about problems in those areas .....

I have turned of the "sleep mode" or turn off monitor setting (don't remember what it's called) since it was prone to never activate when i tried to interact with the pc so i don't think it is because of that. When i manually make it enter sleep or hibernate it always wakes up as it should. but when i leave it on, with a few apps running or even none open it has by some reason rebooted after a while when i come back.

auto hide the taskbar is a function i have never used and still don't.
