notepad files run as registry editor

When I click on a txt file it keep pop up with Registry Editor. How do I stop this from happening so when I click on a txt file it open up notepad. The only way I am able to open it in notepad is by right click and hitting edit.

Hello The Coldest, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You can download and merge the TXT option in the tutorial below to restore the default .txt file extention association in Windows 7. :)

Default File Type Associations - Restore

    Hope this helps,

You know - I thought I knew something about computers - I've only been playing around with them for like 20+ years. Today I realised how little I knew. First buying what I thought would be the right ram chip to upgrade my memory (forgetting of course that matched pairs are bought as a pair - doh!!) and second I've already picked up a few useful little tips from this site - like the one mentioned above. It just goes to show you can teach an old dog new tricks - thanks guys :)
