k i have successfully customized windows xp installation cd, nd also i hv changed my boot order to internal CD/DVD ROM first, but still when i insert disk nd restart my pc, still it is always starting windows, while booting blank screen shows for 5seconds then automatically windows 7 starts up, when i run setup directly in windows 7, it wont show "install windows xp" option as shown screen shots in this thread. I think this problem because of installation disks, actually my pc is 64bit based processor, but my installation disks r 32bits. Should i need 64bit versioned software for installation...?

You'll not be able to run XP installer from Windows 7 as it isn't compatible.

So if it's not booting then it is likely a problem with the CD ISO or burn. Try ImgBurn at 4x speed. Does the CD boot correctly in another PC? Are you given the prompt to "Press any key to boot CD?"

What is the link to the download page?

You want XP w/SP3 for your licensed version, then either OEM if it came preinstalled or Retail if it didn't.

That's not the installer for XP OS, it is the installer for SP2 if you already have XP installed.

Since the DV6 came with Windows 7, you'll need a retail copy of XP. Do you own one of these?

If so what disk do you have for it now?
