Windows 7: I put windows 7 on my sister laptop, she hates it.

My sister is not all techy, she had vista on her laptop, windows vista 64bit and it was running horribly even with 3gigs of ram, and so I downloaded the 32bit version of windows 7 ultimate on my computer and installed it on my laptop, and so she said that she wanted windows 7 on her laptop too, so I installed it on hers, soo this morning she woke up, and I told her that her laptop was running windows 7 32bit and she thinks that I just ruined her laptop by putting a 32bit operating system on her system, and she is so wrong!, she thinks that there is a lot of difference from 32 bit to 64 bit, her computer only has 3 gigs of ram and its faster than vista 64 bit, I am frustrated because after all the hardwork of putting windows 7, she now wants me to put vista 64bit back, she says "my processors is 64bit! put vista back!", but my laptop, my desktop and her laptop are 64bit capable but are running 32 bit, can anyone explain to her that there isnt a major difference between 32bit and 64bit! plz! she wants to go back to the buggy vista and thats a huge mistake!, , she thinks that her laptop is worthless just becuase it is running on 32bit... help!!!!!

even though you are right I think she has made up her mind and it is her computer. why not just put 64bit win 7 on?

A 64-bit CPU means it has the ability to run a 64-bit Operating System, not that it HAS to run it. It can also run 32-bit as well, I run some 32-bit Operating Systems on my laptop such as OS X Leopard (is that 32-bit? :S).

Tell your sis that she is dead wrong. You made the right decision for her system. Granted, there are some advantages with 64bit, but those are not at all what your sister thinks. Tell her also, that practically all modern processors can run 64bit - but the majority of the users are still on 32bit. Once she buys a big system with 8 or 12GBs, then 64bit is in order - but not for 3GBs.

took me 8 hours the whole thing! -_- also i dont notice a difference from 32 bit to 64 bit and she doesn't do any video editing or extreme multi tasking, she only uses facebook and myspace ohh and messenger wow she needs 64bit!

no you made the right choice to go 32bit with only 3 gigs of ram. personally i'd go ahead and upgrade her to 4 gb of ram and install 7 64 bit she will notice a huge performance gain over vista 64 with only 3 gigs. with the cheap prices of ram (you can grab a 2 gig module for her laptop for about $40 at most brick and mortar retailers, may have to check for sales,) in my opinion to really gain any benefit from a 64 bit os you need at least 4gb and odds are that is the most her laptop will support anyways.

T_T!, "my mcafee is 64bit! what am I going to do now!" I told her to download the 32bit version and put the liscense key -_-... Ironic she told me to put 7 on her laptop and now she wants me to put vista.... Ew..

McAfee has a 64-bit version? Didn't know that (or I forgot lol).

Just be stubborn and say no when she wants vista back.

It's like being cured of cancer and then wanting it back. Just isn't right.

The bottom line is that its her computer ... if she wants vista back on it, do the right thing and put it back... keep the peace, its not worth it...
