    Windows corrupted


    My windows boot files are corrupted and it won't start on a genuine version of windows 7 I installed on it. Is it possible to boot on a windows version placed on an external drive?

    How did this happen? Were you; installing new software, did you have a system failure, were new updates installed, etc?

    Yes, it's possible to boot from an external drive, although not recommended.

    Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

    In that case you maybe want to follow this tutorial to do a clean reinstall of Windows on your computer.

    Have you run Startup Repair repeatedly?

    Work through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start
    which lead up to if necessary rescuiing your files to do the Clean Reinstall LittleJay linked above.
