Windows 7: Hide icons by double clicking

Hide icons by double clicking

i was trying to find a way to a hide my icons by double clicking with the mouse

im aware of that Fences program.

but doesnt windows 7 already come with a similar "Fence" program
i know that i have done it before when i first bought my computer, think it was called Gates?? but i could be wrong



idk but if anyone can shed some light on this subject it would be greatly appreciated

In my opinion, there is no reason to have icons on your desktop with windows 7. There is plenty of room on the taskbar for your most frequently used icons, every other icon can easily be found by clicking on the start menu. My documents, my pictures, other partitions or hard drives etc.

Unless in a work environment that demands it.

I don`t think what you want to do ( double click the desktop to hide the desktop icons ) can be done with windows 7 natively. If I`m wrong, someone correct me.

Not really. You know that Fences program right? isnt there a program thats already in Windows 7 that does that.
It must have because when i first bought my laptop it had it
then one day i disabled it? and i cant remember what was it under

Not really what ?

Go into all programs and see if there is a program on your pc that does that, it may have already been installed.

Well, this is it`s description. Thought that`s what you wanted to do.


Hide Icons is a free program that can hide and show your desktop icons. Places an icon in your system tray. Clicking it alternately turns your desktop icons off and on. Can be set to load with windows.
