    Deducing hard-linked files

Is there a mechanism which would allow the discovery of hard-linked files under Windows?

Linux has the inode number, which is the same across hard-linked files (providing they are in the same filesystem)

I can't find anything which identifies a specific physical file under Windows.

Is there even a mechanism which defines whether or not a file HAS hard links? Again, Linux has the Link Count, which gives the game away.

    Link Shell Extension
Hardlinks get an overlay icon as well as an entry in properties.

Add xplorer2 to the mix and it will give you a link count column - not sure if its in the xplorer2 Free version, its definitely in xplorer2 Pay4Me version

xplorer˛ Windows File Manager (Explorer replacement)

Thanks for the suggestions so far. My initial experience with Windows 7 was rather unfortunate, with BSOD's on a regular basis. Whilst I seem to have fixed that problem (an incomplete AMD Video driver update), it's left me with an aversion to installing extra "stuff", and especially something so tightly integrated into the workings of the system.
Perhaps I should press on with learning C/C++ to the point where I could write something myself...

ditto - been using LSE about 13 years - Win2000, XP, Vista and W7 - one of the most useful and reliable gadgets I've ever had - couldn't live without it.
