You have to add 'authenticated users' to the list of users in the security tab of the properties of the file. Then set the permissions to full control 'allow' for that user.

In steps (assuming you have access to the administrators account):

    - right click the file
    - choose properties
    - click the Security tab
    - Click edit
    - click 'add'
    - type in authenticated users
    - click authenticated users so it highlighted
    - check 'allow' next to full control

    That should remove the lock.

The files are not locked. They are private to you! Only your account has access to them. That is what the lock icon means.

Thanks to VitalOd for a solution that worked! Unfortunately I had to do each file separately.

Thanks also to logicearth for explaining what the lock icon REALLY meant.

Glad it worked out for you.

I guess you could have done them all at the same time if you created a temp folder on a separate volume and set the appropriate permissions on that. Then if you moved the files with the lock symbol on them into that folder they would inherit the permissions of the destination folder.

You have them moved them back to their original positions.
