Getting around software that locks your pc

Hello, I am in college and there is a program called "websentinel". It is used for various reasons, some for proctoring, general help, etc. It is a webcam application. The thing is, is that it locks your computer not allowing you to access anything but the webcam. Now, when I am not being proctored, I need to be able to navigate the web while using the cam. Is there a way around such applications? Would starting a new browser do the trick, is it just browser specific, or do tese things actually lock your entire web down?

    Contact the School's IT people...
We can't assist with circumventing security apps on a school PC.

I would contact whoever required you to install the websentinel program.

Sounds like a court ordered monitoring system.

No, it is a webcam application for College (Websentinal). It apparently (I haven't tested it yet) locks your screen. I just don't know if it simply locks the current browser, or if it actually can stop all other activity. Now, if I am not doing an actual exam, and need to navigate, I was just wondering if there was a way around such applications. Or, could simply opening another browser could do the trick

WebSentinel is a utility for monitoring the content of web pages for search terms at a scheduled time, optionally on a periodic basis.

Someone had to install it to your computer. I would try another browser.
A quick Google search brought up several program with the same name.

Thanks, it hasn't been installed. I was just told that I need to get a webcam in order to use it, I assume software will need to be installed once I get the cam.

Well that's confusing since you said you had it and it locks you computer. As was said, contact the school/prof/whoever about the program.
