    Problem with naming new folders

    Hi,
I need some help with naming of new folders. There was no problem doing this for a long time but recently when I click on the "New Folder" button on the menu bar, it will create the new folder but as soon as I start typing the name it will close the renaming option and I will have to click on it again to complete the renaming.
This does not happen every time but is intermittent and very frustrating. The action is the same as if you have hit enter to complete the rename. Any help will be appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Laptop or Desktop?

Sounds like it may be mouse related. Try a different one.

Hi Rich, Desktop system with 8Gb Ram, 6 TB HD space on 3 hard drives and running a Intel core i5 CPU @ 3.30GHz. I have all the latest updates and service pack 1 installed. I have tried a new mouse but no go.... it is difficult to describe the exact problem but to try just that here is some more info: when you click on "New Folder" or right click and create new folder, the system creates the "New Folder with the name highlighted to rename it. I can then start typing in a new name but sometime it will close the option when I am still typing in the new name. I have experimented with it and created a new one, then I just leave it until it closes the rename option by itself. This happens after about 3 - 5 seconds without any input from my side.

    I hope this help

Are you sure you aren't accidentally hitting the Enter key? Or your keyboard is starting to fail. It happens to me all the time but then I am hitting the Enter key when all I wanted to hit was the right Shift key.

    Good point, could be keyboard.

Does it happen if you boot to Safe Mode with Networking? Maybe some program is starting at boot that is causing the problem.

I will purchase a new wireless keyboard and mouse in the morning and see how it goes, I will give you feedback as soon as I am up and running with the new components. I sure hope it is something as simple as that Thanks for the help in the meantime and talk to you soon! Cheers...
