Power Outage - Then gray screen on boot?

    Win 7

There was a quick power outage and the computer was forced off. I rebooted and now after the windows logo there is a gray screen that remains a very long period of time before the desktop appears. I am able to move the mouse but that is the only functionality I have.

Any ideas? Is a re-install nessesary?

Try a Repair install. Look at the tutorials for it. Startup Repair.

That power outage may of also been a Power surge when it came back on. You really need to get a UPS (Battery Backup system).

Just picked up the surge/bat suppressor

Do I need to boot from a separate device to do in repair?

Odd...simply booting into the repair menu fixed the problem on the re-boot. I was not able to select start-up repair on my system
