Computer boot hanging. classpnp.sys

Hello, my brother's computer's video card crashed when he attempted to play Metro 2033 on his Windows 7 x64 machine. Rebooting, it hung on the Windows logo and didn't do anything. So, I tried booting into safe mode, only to see it hang on AVG drivers. I booted into a AVG Rescue disk and renamed the AVG drivers. Rebooted again, and saw it hung on classpnp.sys. Put in a Windows 7 repair disk and it hangs on "Setup is starting.."

Any help is appreciated.

Boot into Win7 DVD or Repair CD System Recovery Options to run Startup Repair. It should offer System Restore, if not run it Manually from Options menu if necessary.

If this fails work through all of the steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Start

I'm not entirely sure where to post this, but windows seems to be treating it as a BSOD (Shows me the "Unexpected shutdown" summary when I boot it in safe mode, creates a kernel dump) so I'll post it here. My mom's computer has started to hang on boot. It will reboot, attempt to do a startup...

So I really have no idea where to start, I can usually fix things myself but I can't even get to somewhere useful. I have made no hardware or firmware or any changes since last successful boot. Mac OS X boots up fine from my second HDD (my laptop has PC architecture, it's not Apple). Removing...

Tweaking boot time (classpnp.sys?)
I'm looking for ways to reduce my reboot time (102 seconds according to this script). I've pruned BIOS routines and startup items, which leaves the bit in the middle. I realise on HDDs (3 x F3s in RAID0; 6.1 WEI; 350MB/s sequentials) I'll never see the sub-60 second reboot times of SSDs, but I...
