Some desktop icons question

Why all desktop icons appear in the Desktop folder but not on the desktop itself?

I set my desktop to show the Recicle Bin icon only, but if I open the Desktop folder in Explorer they are all there: Computer, Control Panel, Libraries, Network, User's Files, and Recycle Bin.

TIA.

Try right-clicking a blank area of the desktop > View > check mark "show desktop icons".

If that doesn't work, try rebuilding the icon cache.

When you set your icons on the desktop even if it's only one that shows and the others are hidden and when you open your desktop folder it is normal to show all of the above you have listed because that is where they are.
