Very slow windows shutdown

My computer shuts down very slowly occasionally. It says shutting down for more than 30 seconds which is a lot longer than it should be. I noticed that my computer stopped giving power to my external hard drive, keyboard and mouse, but it still keeps saying shutting down after that and it can last for a long time. Under normal circumstances it would say shutting down for about ten seconds and then my input methods would stop working at the same time as the computer powers off. Help?

Try the below mentioned steps which might fix this issue:

Go to the registry, Open the registry and locate the key{ \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management}, then change the value of ClearPageFile at Shutdown to a "0" IF the value is "1". If the value is 1, it will take longer for your computer to shutdown.


And


Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\
Highlight the value WaitToKillServiceTimeout. Change this value to 1000.

Hi, I am very sorry I forgot to mention it before, but I have already tried registry tweaking and it is of no use for me. The values are already at the most optimal setting. I still need help

Access the Advanced Boot Options menu and enter Safe Mode. Does slow shutdown still occur in Safe Mode? If yes, you may have application conflicts. Try doing a clean boot (AKA clean startup.)

If still no joy try running a system file checker scan from an elevated command prompt (option two.) If problems are found, run the scan 3 times and reboot the computer after each scan. See if slow shutdown issue is resolved.

It isn't all that unusual for a system to take 30 seconds to shut down. You may have a TSR running that is delaying the process. Have you checked "Task Manager" for any entries that may be running and causing the system to pause while they go through a terminate stage? Some processes will cause a popup message that states the system is waiting for some program to close, while others do not.

Greetings, the problem for me lies after the system has logged off and all of the processes have been terminated. It is the shutting down phase that can take a lot of time.
