    File icons

Hi, I have searched on the net but cant find exactly my problem, which is.

I recently updated foxit, and my desktop pdf icons changed to thumbnails, which I hate. I want the old generic PDF icon back. I went to Control panel and changed the folder view to display icons instead of thumbnails, but now of course my jpeg icons have changed also to a generic icon.

I changed back to the earlier version of foxit but the icons persist as thumbnails.

Is there a way to make windows 7 Home 32 bit display generic pdf icons, but still display the jpeg etc icons as thumbnails?

    Thanks

Hum try opening programs right click on the program > properties and > change icon (if you need to) > right click > send to desktop if that is where you want it.

Let me explain further, its not the program icon i wish to change, but the pdf files it produces. I have a number of current pdf files on my desktop, which now display as thumbnails (of the first page of the pdf) and are almost indecipherable. I just want the old generic pdf file icons back, but i wish to have all other file types icons (where applicable) show as thumbnails.

Ive just installed a prog called "types" and I think I may have done it, but the prog looks a little dangerous.

The fix you suggested allows a change to THE PROGRAM ICON not the icons of the FILES produced by that program.

I have got rid of "types" even though it changed the file icons as i wanted. I found amongst my portable apps a program from Nirsoft called "files type manager" that allows a change of default icon to one file type in what looks to me a much more understandable manner.

If anyone else wants to do this heres a link that explains it
