Had you read Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot you would know it is provided in Step 5.

There is no substitute for utmost thoroughness in these repairs.

My mistake, thanks. Downloading now. So I should download this, upload it to a USB, make it bootable Windows 7 and hopefully try to fix it from there?

I would start at the top of the steps since it might still be infected and won't repair until cleaned up.

1. If possible unplug all other HD's. Boot into BIOS setup by tapping the key given for this on first boot screen, check that Windows 7 HD is detected and set to boot first (after CD/DVD drive).

I am currently running an HP Pavilion dv4 laptop. How do I unplug the hard drive (or am I supposed to unplug any secondary HDs?). How do i boot into BIOS mode and boot 'first'?

Sorry for all of these questions, my only computer repair experience I have is cleaning up viruses.

If you don't have another HD then you don't have to worry about that step. To boot into HP BIOS setup to check that HD is detected and set to boot after DVD drive, tap the F10 or F1 key at boot.

Download and burn an installation dvd from here. You can use that.

Okay currently running Malware in background, so far nothing has been picked up.
Do i need to change the boot order every time and run Malware every time to complete Step 1?

Is this Malwarebytes being run in Safe Mode or a bootable AV CD?

You only need to change the boot order to boot a disk to do those repairs. Or you can trigger the disk to boot using one-time BIOS Boot Menu key given on first screen.

So what you're saying is, I download the iso to a CD/flash drive, boot that up from the F10 menu, and from there, I do the startup repair? or system restore?

Btw, I found a Trojan on my computer, but the problem did not fix itself. It was Trojan.FakeAlert, found by MalwareBytes.

Just to make this clear to future readers

You must run a "FULL SCAN" (takes hours on my pc's) on your choice of virus checker!
And run at least two different virus checkers - which may pick up different malware on your system.
(disable one when the other runs & vice versa)

Kwik-Scan will miss stuff!
