Boot options stuck , please help.

    Hi,

I have a laptop with broken lcd. So im using it now as desktop, connecting it to an external lcd monitor.

Last night I suspected a worm and tried to boot up in safe mode by pressing F8 but couldn't make it work because windows only activate the external monitor by the time it has finished loading drivers. The result was it keeps booting into normal mode.

So, I remembered there's another way to boot into safe mode by accessing boot options in msconfig

Now I'm stuck with safemode and cannot do anything because safemode doesnt enable external monitor. I know for sure that I could enter password and get into safemode but I can't tell what should I press or click to access to that msconfig windows again to return boot options to normal state.

Please help me, is there a script or a key sequence (fresh from log in screen) that I can try to make my system lives again.

Boot into BIOS setup to reset to defaults, save changes and exit. You should see the BIOS on monitor.

Then work through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot

I have a Vaio laptop. What key should I press to get into BIOS setup?

Do you mean with BIOS set to default I can see booting sequence on external monitor from the beginning.

It's not an error or something, windows is working as it is told to do so. It's just that I can't see anything in order to tell windows to do differently, quit booting into safemode.

    Thanks.

Since you can see boot options, boot into System Recovery Options on Win7 DVD or Repair CD - System Repair Disk to System Restore to before you made the msconfig setting that is forcing it into Safe Mode.

Then in System Recovery options run Startup Repair a few times as well.

If this fails work through the steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot

I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear enough.

No, I cannot see anything, either BIOS screen, or boot options (f8) , or windows 7 in safemode. Because my laptop screen is broken and I'm connecting an external LCD to my laptop. System and windows don't show anything on this external monitor except windows normal boot mode, when it has loaded all driver.

So what I'm looking for is a key sequence for me to follow to disable safemode boot up mode. I'm thinking of 2 options:
    - windows has finished boot up in safe mode. There are warning windows rights? How many are there and how many Enter and ESC should I type? Then how can I access msconfig window from keyboard, and how many UPs and DOWNs and TABs ... in what sequence should I type to change boot made to normal?

    - What if from BIOS boot up I press F8 to access boot options, how many DOWNs should I press to choose Normal or Last known good configuration? Do you think this way works?

    Many many thanks

I don't now what to recommend except to try another monitor, or repair your laptop screen. Sometimes it only needs the cables reseated. You should be able to google a video for your model (or close) to see how to replace the screen, which will reveal where the cables are which might need replugging. If not then you can replace it with a new screen you order by googling the make/model for a replacement screen.

Even if you could access F8 and navigate to Last Known Good, I dont' think it would revert. But you can try it:

If you can get into Repair console and then somehow navgate to System Restore (or even Startup Repair which automates it) that might be worth a try if you can find your way through these screens starting with Option One in System Recovery Options
