Hi DEBADGE and welcome to Seven Forums.
I would suspect that Windows ***DVD*** maker as a program has no idea what a blu ray is and thinks it is a CD. The answer is simple use the DVD burner for DVD and use the blu ray to play movies and burn blu rays with a program that knows they exist. Windows 7 does not have native blu ray support.
This will burn blu rays should you need a burner The Official ImgBurn Website
