    Toshiba laptop doesn't start up

    Hello,

I have been having problems with starting my laptop. It's Toshiba satellite L650-12Q.
I can start my laptop but when I start it shuts down again in 3 secs and after that I can't start it up again. After some 20 mins I can start my laptop(only when I get the lights that the laptop is charging), however the same thing happens.. Shuts down in three sec. All this time my AC adapter for bettery is plugged in. However, I tired to start my laptop(again, when I get the lights that the laptop is charging) without the AC adapter but I get the flashing ember light that there isn't battery.
I checked out some other sites/forum but they all stated different things like it's the motherboard, or the battery.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you :)

Hi when your laptop turns on do you hear the fan spin up at all and then stop or does the fan not start at all?

One thing to try a long shot you may have tried it already is to remove the battery and connect to mains and start it.

When it starts up the fan does work, and I can hear it moving as well. Yeah, I tired that as well, but the laptop doesn't start. I even tried pressing the on button for 30 seconds without the AC adapter but still no results.

Have you tried booting it using the battery without the adapter plugged in please try this but depends on whether there is enough juice in the battery to start with but will eliminate the power adapter if the issue remains the same.

Have you been here? What can I do if my Windows 7 or Windows Vista lap... - Toshiba Forums

My laptop before this was a Toshiba and I got a lot of help from their forums. Kinda sounds like it may be a hardware problem to me. If you're still under warranty I highly recommend you call Toshiba support, they have a top notch support system imho, nothing like the dreck Asus calls customer support.

Thank you for the link. I tired using the information provided but still there is no power to the laptop, either by using the battery or the AC adapter. I'll try asking the question there.

Unfortunately my warranty just expired in August, so I won't be able to get any replacement from them.

If the warranty has ran out and you have followed the advice in the link provided then a local computer repair shop is where i would go.

Do you have any usb connected or other new hardware?

You could also try opening it and checking that your memory is seated correctly. Has it been dropped recently?
