After trying to configure for a dual monitor setup, can only get the monitor using the vga connector to work. The other connector options on this card are both dvi dual link stubs which will not work with either monitor if i switch either monitor to them. Any ideas anyone please?
Some hardware specs would be beneficial to help with this issue.
Hi, Intel i3 on an EX 58-UD4P mbd. 4 gbs corsair mem. monitors are widescreens DGIM and a Ben Q.
No, whichever monitor is attached to the dvi dual link connector goes black yet the card has a vga x1 and 2 dvi dual link stubs so have bought 2 dual link connectors. Monitors are recognised by name in the Nvidia control panel but not in the windows display panel.?
When you say have bought 2 dual link connectors do you mean DVI cables or DVI to VGA adapters? I ask because DVI to VGA adapters will only work if the source is a DVI-I. If the video card connectors are DVI-D, there is no analog signal to feed a VGA monitor. Also, if the monitors have more than one input like say VGA and DVI, make sure they are set to DVI. That is if they don't auto sense. Even if they are auto sense, you may want to see if you can manually set them to DVI just to make sure they aren't still on VGA.
Thanks alpha. they are adapters, so I think unless the monitors can be set to DVI I am sunk (will be able to check in the morning and will post outcome). To bad I didnt realise this when choosing the card and the ports that it came with, maybe am stuck with 1 monitor only. So many learning curves with this IT "stuff"
Forgot to clarify, the card connectors are DVI D so do you mean that even if monitor can be set to DVI that it will still only work with a DVI 1 card connector?
DVI-D is digital only, DVI-I is integrated analog and digital. The DVI to VGA adapter picks off the analog signal and feeds it to the correct pins. All that's in it is wires, it doesn't do any conversion. A DVI-D connector doesn't have the analog signal so the DVI to VGA adapter won't work. If your monitors have a DVI input you can use a DVI-D male to male cable to connect them to your video card. Switching them to DVI with the cable on VGA won't do anything.
