[Disk Management] Unable to Extend Partition

Hello Experts,
My hard drive is partitioned as shown in the attached screenshot. I am trying to extend the D:\ drive to include all the unallocated space after it, but the Extend option is dimmed. I am on an HP laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate (not the OEM Home Edition). I appreciate if someone would please help me to fix this.

You could do it this way......

Create a folder on the desktop of C: (Windows) then copy and paste all the data from D: to it. It will fit.

After you verify it all copied ok, then you can......

Delete the D partition down to unallocated space. Create a new partition from all of the unallocated space.

Copy the folder back to D and verify, if happy, delete the folder from C.

You have to select the unallocated section to add that back to the D drive.

Excellent

A note for the future. Don`t ever try to change that Logical drive to a primary partition using windows. It will turn your disk to dynamic ( you don`t want that ) a lot of people make that mistake. If you ever wanted to turn it primary, use Partition Wizard.

But you are fine the way it is. Great job

Thanks for the advice. I'll make sure I don't use the Windows Disk Management to change my logical partition into primary.
