Can't delete folder (tried everything!)

Hello! My name is Ronnie, and I have tried pretty much every single way on how to delete a folder that simply won't go away.

Some background...on my desktop, I have a folder called "Paul Ryan Hypocrisy on Specifics" (I do YouTube videos, and that happened to be one of my videos), and there is nothing in it. I, however, am unable to rid of the folder. Not only does this tamper with my OCD, but I don't want Paul Ryan to haunt me post-election. :P

I tried almost everything. I tried the fancy little code thingies through the Command Prompt (running it as the administrator). I tried downloading numerous programs, such as Unlocker, Lock Hunter, and Delete Long Paths. I tried hiding it, renaming it, adding a file to it and then trying to delete it. I tried deleting the folder on Safe Mode. I tried restarting my computer. I tried refreshing my desktop. Nothing seems to be working!!

I did happen to run across an interesting thing, though, when using "Delete Long Paths." It showed a file called "destop.ini" in the folder. I was unable to delete it, though, because it required me to purchase the full program, which I was not going to do. I researched it, and I understand it's purpose, but I have no way of deleting it, considering how it is hidden in all other circumstances. Furthermore, I am not even sure if that is what is causing the issue.

So, if anyone could offer their assistance, that would be grand!

Thanks!

- Ronnie

Welcome to the Seven Forums.

Does a SFC scan show anything wrong?
SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Have you tried booting to another operating system and deleting it from there? You can download Ubuntu, burn it to a CD, boot to that CD and delete whatever you want.... just be careful!

I am currently running the scan now. And I don't know if I want to install a new OS onto my laptop. I will do it if no other option works, though.

Thanks for the tips!

And the scan didn't detect any issues.

Create another folder, put it in that. Try to delete the new folder.

Tried that before, and I just tried it again. The problematic folder cannot even move. It can't be renamed, manipulated, or moved to any other location.

Try the free program Unlocker - it may help.

I'm sorry that I was not clear:
You do not have to install another operating system on your computer.

You run the entire Ubuntu OS from the CD. I've done this several times - just be careful what you delete.

If you don't like Ubuntu - you can pick from many other CDs that will let you do this. I just picked Ubuntu because you might like having an entire OS on a bootable CD.

@BisVal, I almost posted a link to Unlocker, then I scanned the OP again.

I've never found a file or folder that Unlocker could not get rid of, but it sometimes takes several steps.

For anyone wanting to try Unlocker - please watch out for the junk that comes with it. See this post:
