Hello and welcome jbarrio mate am just wondering if you has surge protection on when that power went out? If you did well what exactly can you boot into?

If you have access to another machine maybe make a bootable Ubuntu disk set the BIOS to boot from the optical drive and see if it will boot the Ubuntu if it doesn't do that seems like there maybe is a hardware problem of some sort.

Thank you | Ubuntu < download and burn to a CD and when / if it does boot choose just the run NOT install - there are two options. Once in there you can go about checking drives out and access the net via the Firefox etc.
