ok, so while I was waiting for the virus scan to finish, I played around in the control panel and it seems that I can change theme but I cannot right click on the desktop, is this a problem with the explorer.exe or am I mislead?

How did you enter control panel? You don't see a dekstop as far as you said it was totally black!
